Sid is the Eastern Regional
Vice President of Actors' Equity Association,
and a Core Member of #FairWageOnStage
Sid first ran for and won a seat on Equity's National Council in 2015, serving a three-year term as an Eastern Principal Councilor. In May of 2018, he was elected as Equity's Eastern Regional Vice President.
As a member of the Council, Sid works to set national policy for the union, and to oversee its execution by Equity’s professional staff. In his capacity as ERVP, Sid also serves as Chair of Equity’s Eastern Regional Board, which oversees matters affecting members in the 20 states of the Eastern Region, the District of Columbia, and Canada. He also holds a permanent seat on Equity's Executive Committee.
Since being elected in 2015, Sid has dedicated himself to member engagement, as he firmly believes that Equity’s Councilors should play a visible and active role in the day-to-day lives of its members. He has therefore committed himself to being the most accessible member of the Council. He's easy to find - via email, on Facebook, Twitter, Audition Update, in an EPA line - and he'll always get back to you.
As a representative of all of Equity's members (not just those residing in the Eastern Region), Sid constantly strives as a member of the Council to see the big picture, and to use the information he gathers from one-on-one engagement with members across the country to inform the votes he casts in meetings. His primary focuses are ensuring fair wages on all of Equity's contracts, improving Equity's governance structure to increase both its efficiency and effectiveness, improving Equity's ability to engage meaningfully with its members, and solidifying the Council's role as one of not only policy-making, but oversight of policy execution.
In addition to the Council and Regional Board, Sid dedicates a significant amount of time to Equity committees, currently serving as:
Chair, Equity Principal Audition Committee
1st Vice Chair, Off-Off Broadway Committee
2nd Vice Chair, Eastern Developing Theater Committee
3rd Vice Chair, Entry to Equity Committee
4th Vice Chair, Young Workers Committee
Member, Constitutional Review Committee
Member, Deputy Committee
Member, Election Procedures Committee
Member, EPA Online Signup Working Group
Member, Equal Employment Opportunity Committee
Member, Executive Committee
Member, Guest Artist Contract Committee
Member, House Affairs Committee
Member, LORT Contract Committee
Member, Member Education Committee
Member, Off-Broadway Committee
Member, Public Policy Committee
Observer, Production Contract Committee
Outside his work as a Councilor, Sid remains active in grassroots, member-driven initiatives seeking to educate and engage the members of Actors’ Equity. He is a founding member of #AEAunder40, an unofficial group dedicated to engaging Equity's youngest members, as well as the founder and creator of #10KforAEA, a Get Out The Vote campaign which helped increase participation in Equity's 2016 Council Elections by more than 16%.
Sid is also a Core Member of #FairWageOnStage, which helped Equity achieve historic increases in the the 2016 Off-Broadway Contract negotiations, and continues to work to demand fair wages for stage managers and actors nationwide.
